What do you mean I need to get out of the car?

Car Ride

I think we’ve unlocked the key to Sheba eating: BABY FOOD!  She love the turkey with gravy and beef with gravy, haven’t tried the chicken yet though.  She also seems to like freeze dried liver treats, ostrich hearts, cheese, and goats milk.  We’re going to have a TON of baby food jars!

Since she stated coming up lame in February, Sheba has been getting car rides instead of walks.  Recently, we’ve had difficulties convincing her to get out of the car.

Finally got her out after an hour.

And half a bag of liver treats!

Obviously another moment of teenage rebellion

5/23/16 Sheba went in for TPLO of the right leg (left had been done year prior). Initial tests were inconclusive suggesting fungal or cancer. 6/22/16 fine needle aspirate in conjunction with review from specialist resulted in diagnosis of osteomyelitis of fungal origin. Organism could not be ID'd. Amputation 6/30/16, bone sent to pathology for identification and susceptibility. Final diagnosis: systemic Aspergilosis Current treatment: Itraconazole and terbinafine

  1. Oh Sheba! You are a character…an adorably delightful character!!

Okay everybody! Heads up! Buy stock in Gerber Baby Foods! Pretty sure they’re about to get a huge sales increase! 🙂

Have you tried any of the Honest Kitchen products? Human grade food you mix with water. It’s kind of a very thick “porridge” kind of consistency Also Pet Fresh (in refrigeration in stores). It’s soft nuggets and my dogs loooove it! Both of these may be more palatable for Sheba to eat.

She may get out of the car faster for this tasty stuff!

Keep these pictures coming! She s such a beauty!

    Lots of love!

    1. Actually, she prefers Beechnut to Gerber 😉

We tried the Honest Kitchen stuff. The powder stuff was a no go, but she likes the turkey Popper Toppers. Unfortunately she’ll only eat a handful every few days.

Today she ate a bunch of kangaroo jerky, I was so happy! Then she threw it up a few hours later. :-/

  2. Oh gosh, bummer about the puking.

Okay, this won’t be much hell, but there’s a paste (I think in a tube mahbe) that you can get from GNC that’s chock full of vitamins and nutrients. Apparently you just kind of smear it in the mout on the gums and they actually like the taste. I know I’ve seen it mentioned in the site, just can’t find it thru the “search” process.

I know it’s hard to stay strong and positive. You are doing an incredible job though!!

Would fluids help her fom a stand point of helping her feel a little perkier? Vets use it for that purpose sometimes even if they aren’t particularly dehydrated. Also, maybe an injection of Vitamin B, etc?

All paws crossed that she will get through this and vlow that fungal infection to smithereens!

    Lots of love
